Ushering in a new era of Solar power, RaysExperts, along with Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Kolkata, announced the commissioning of the first phase of it’s solar project at IIEST campus, Shibpur, Botanic Garden, Howrah, West Bengal. The project was awarded under the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) tender. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on 19th May, 2017, at IIEST, Shibpur Campus.

Commenting on the new development, Mr. Rahul Gupta, CEO, RaysExperts said, “Adding yet another feather in the cap of our undertakings, this accomplishment humbles us.We are determined to continue with our endeavours towards the government’s ‘Solar Mission’ in India. As far as the execution of the solar project at IIEST is concerned, our prior experience and first hand information in building solar plants in educational institutes came in handy, thus the execution of the project was smooth and fast paced.”

Expressing their delight on the launch of the solar project, ProfessorHiranmaySaha, Renewable Energy at IIEST said, “We are very excited about the new solar project in our campus and look forward to reaping the benefits of our collective endeavour towards a greener tomorrow. Furthermore, understanding the benefits of this one time investment, I urge institutions of our likes and others, to move towards renewable energy, as it would greatly and positively impact their annual cost of operations. To give a better perspective of things, after the deployment of the second phase of the solar plant in our campus, our electricity bill is estimated to go down by INR 80 Lakh per year, and as they say, ‘a penny saved is a penny earned’.”

The solar project in IIESTis large enough to power the entire lightening, fans, computers & number of other equipment in IIEST. Additionally, the plant will also continue providing free electricity to for 25 years.
