Innovation and Expansion Ahead, Says Vipin Kumar Kasana of Sungrow India

Over the next five years, Sungrow aims to lead in solar inverter and ESS innovation, grow its manufacturing footprint, deepen local R&D, and deliver products tailored to India’s energy transition, said Vipin Kumar Kasana, Channel Sales Manager, Sungrow India, in an interview with Energetica India.

Que: Sungrow has completed 11 years in the Indian market, having entered the market in 2014. What are the key milestones Sungrow India has achieved so far?

Ans: Sungrow India has completed 11 years since its market entry in 2014. Major achievements include shipping over 50 GW of PV inverters, building a 25 GW manufacturing facility in Bangalore, and supporting a wide mix of utility, C&I, and residential solar projects across the country – all while strengthening its local service and repairing centres network and creating jobs through the ‘Make in India’ initiative.


Que: How do you differentiate your product offerings in solar inverter and ESS solutions in the highly competitive Indian market, be it the residential, C&I or the utility-scale segments?

Ans: Sungrow stands out by offering a full range of high-efficiency inverters and flexible ESS solutions for every segment – residential, C&I, and utility. The portfolio includes multi-MPPT string inverters, modular central designs, and robust storage systems with intelligent EMS technology. Quality, reliability, and localised manufacturing give Sungrow a clear edge in India’s competitive landscape.


Que: With growing talks on energy storage even in the residential solar segment, how do you see the potential of hybrid inverters in the Indian market?

Ans: There’s rising demand for hybrid inverters in India’s residential space, driven by energy independence and grid reliability needs. Sungrow has a wide range of compatible residential hybrid inverters for various regions globally and has plans to launch in India soon with fast backup switching, high DC/AC flexibility, and smart expansion options. We are well poised to meet the demand arising from this growing segment and support evolving homeowner needs.


Que: What are the key trends you see emerging in the solar inverter and the energy storage segment in the next 5 years? And, how are you aligning your offerings to keep up with those?

Ans: Key industry trends include digitisation, AI-driven energy management, advanced safety standards, and higher system integration with batteries. Sungrow is aligning by introducing smarter, more connected inverters, future-ready storage, and value-added digital tools like AI-powered energy management, staying ahead of industry needs.


Que: What were the company's primary objectives for participating in this year’s REI Expo? What new products or technologies have you showcased?

Ans: Sungrow has been completely aligned with the REI Expo objectives to promote sustainable and renewable energy adoption, showcasing products and demonstrating innovative technological advancements, particularly in the RE segment.
