India is Fastest-Growing Biogas Market: Vijaykumar Lanka on Armatec-FTS’s Technology Push
November 17, 2025. By News Bureau
Que: With expertise spanning multiple sectors, including biogas, agriculture, and wastewater, how does Armatec FTS maintain its technological edge and ensure product reliability across diverse applications?
Ans: Armatec FTS maintains its technological edge and ensures product reliability across diverse applications – such as biogas, agriculture, and wastewater – through continuous innovation, robust product design, and sector-specific customisation.
Armatec FTS operates a proactive R&D team that drives ongoing improvements in agitator technology, reflected in its fourth-generation EVO series with enhancements like shaft protection assembly. These features not only increase operational safety but also enable quick service, limiting downtime and ensuring long-term reliability in sectors ranging from municipal biogas projects to large-scale agri-waste digesters.
Que: Could you explain how your products enhance biogas plant efficiency in terms of gas yield, energy consumption, and maintenance requirements?
Ans: Armatec products enhance biogas plant efficiency by increasing gas yield, reducing energy consumption, and minimising maintenance requirements through advanced mixing technologies and sector-driven design. Armatec agitators significantly improve gas output by ensuring thorough mixing of feedstock in digesters, which promotes uniform temperature, efficient nutrient distribution, and optimal microorganism activity. Reports indicate that upgrading to Armatec’s agitator can yield up to 18 percent more gas yield, highlighting the direct impact of intelligent mixing on biogas generation. Effective agitation also prevents sedimentation and scum formation, supporting reliable and continuous gas production.
Reducing Energy Consumption:
The EVO+ agitator, one of Armatec’s leading models, sets the benchmark for industry energy efficiency by achieving high circulation at exceptionally low power. For instance, the EVO+ mixer can cut power consumption in half compared to conventional high-speed mixers without compromising performance, resulting in substantial operational savings up to INR 4,380 per mixer annually in German conditions, as confirmed by field and CFD simulation data. Smart propeller and drive designs further optimise energy utilisation and lower operating costs.
Que: What key products or solutions have you showcased at the REI Expo?
Ans: At the REI Expo this year, Armatec FTS showcased virtually its latest advancements in biogas agitator technology, with a focus on the company’s EVO Series, which includes the EVO, EVO+, EVO ULTRA, EVO HYBRID, and EVO FUSION agitators. These solutions are designed to improve biogas yield, energy efficiency, and operational reliability for large-scale and decentralised biogas plants.
EVO Series
Featuring various propeller sizes and power options to match the requirements of different digesters, from medium plants to large, high-solids digesters. Notable highlights include the EVO HYBRID agitator with patented submersible design and the EVO FUSION paddle agitator, ideal for breaking up tough layers.
Armatec highlighted its Hyderabad-based facility, enabling quicker delivery and market-specific support for Indian and regional clients.
The Expo presence was aimed at engaging operators, investors, and government stakeholders seeking advanced, reliable, and scalable solutions for India's expanding renewable energy ecosystem.
Que: How do you view India as a market for your products, particularly in the context of the rapidly expanding biogas and renewable energy sectors?
Ans: India is seen as a highly promising market by Armatec FTS, especially given the country’s rapid growth in the biogas and renewable energy sectors, driven by government policies and climate concerns. The company recognises India as the fastest-growing biogas market worldwide, which opens significant opportunities for innovative technology providers like Armatec FTS to support the country’s clean energy transition and waste management initiatives.
Strategic Investments and Localisation:
Armatec FTS has established a major assembly facility in Hyderabad, enabling localised manufacturing and faster delivery while enhancing cost competitiveness and service responsiveness for Indian clients. This investment supports the “Make in India” vision by sourcing motors and fabricating blades locally, importing only core units to optimise costs and supply.
The company’s strong presence, growing network, and commitment to affordability, quality, and after-sales support position Armatec FTS as a preferred partner for India’s biogas and renewable energy ambitions.
Que: Are there any upcoming partnerships, collaborations, or distribution agreements that Armatec FTS is planning to announce in the near future?
Ans: Yes, we have recently collaborated with several companies.
Awite Bioenergie GmbH
Armatec FTS has recently formalised a significant partnership with Awite Bioenergie GmbH to enhance their biogas solutions offering in India, making advanced gas analysis technology more accessible to Indian biogas operators. This collaboration aims to deliver comprehensive packages for the rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.
Fliegl-Dosiertechnik
Armatec India and Fliegl are collaborating to bring advanced feeding systems for biogas plants to the Indian market. This partnership leverages Fliegl’s expertise in agricultural transport and automated feeding technology, while Armatec provides localised support and integration with their proven agitator and pump systems.
