AB Energia MD Siddharth Bhatia Discusses Solar Innovations and Global Expansion

June 16, 2025. By Abha Rustagi

AB Energia has established itself as a leading innovator in India’s solar EPC sector by delivering tailor-made solar solutions, including carport and rooftop installations, said Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director & CEO, AB Energia Solutions, in an interview Abha Rustagi, Associate Editor, Energetica India.

Que: What was the founding vision of AB Energia Solutions, and how has it evolved over time?

Ans: AB Energia Solutions has rapidly emerged as a dynamic force in India’s renewable energy sector, specialising in delivering end-to-end EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) solutions for solar and energy conservation projects. The company is dedicated to empowering underserved regions with access to renewable energy, expanding its reach from urban centres to remote areas in India, the Middle East, and Africa. Through strategic partnerships and CSR initiatives, AB Energia contributes to broader societal goals, advocating for greener practices and sustainable development.

Founded with a clear vision to address the immediate and growing need for energy conservation, AB Energia set out to contribute to sustainable development in India and beyond. Over time, the company has maintained its commitment to innovation, reliability, and long-term partnerships, continually adapting to industry trends and technological advancements.

Throughout its journey, AB Energia has remained focused on delivering innovative, reliable, and customised solutions, establishing itself as a trusted partner in the renewable energy landscape. The company’s dedication to driving impactful change and supporting the clean energy transition remains stronger than ever.

Que: Could you tell us about your partnership with Jindal Stainless?

Ans: AB Energia Solutions has partnered with Jindal Stainless to deliver Odisha’s largest captive solar energy plant at Jindal Stainless’ Jajpur manufacturing facility. As an EPC specialist, AB Energia led the design, procurement, and installation of this landmark project, which includes a 7.324 MWp floating solar plant and a 23.02 MWp rooftop solar system across ten industrial buildings.

This milestone marks a significant step towards a greener future, reinforcing Jindal Stainless’ commitment to sustainable growth. It has also committed to investing INR 700 crore in multiple decarbonisation projects over the next five years.
It reflects a shared commitment to responsible growth and innovation. By aligning renewable energy with operational needs, we’re enabling Jindal Stainless to take measurable steps toward their sustainability goals while strengthening their energy resilience.

Que: Floating solar is still an emerging sector in India. How do you see its future in the broader renewable energy ecosystem?

Ans: Floating solar presents a compelling opportunity in India's renewable energy journey. With the country's increasing energy demands and limited land availability, utilising water bodies for solar installations offers a strategic solution. This approach not only conserves land but also enhances energy efficiency, as the cooling effect of water can improve solar panel performance.

India has committed to installing 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with solar power playing a pivotal role. One innovative and promising technology contributing to this goal is floating solar power. By deploying solar panels on reservoirs, lakes, and other water bodies, floating solar projects convert otherwise unused surfaces into productive, energy-generating assets. This approach not only maximises resource utilisation but also offers unique advantages, such as reducing water evaporation and improving panel efficiency due to the cooling effect of water.

As technology advances and supportive policies emerge, floating solar will become an increasingly vital component of India’s renewable mix, enabling industries and utilities to maximise resource efficiency and accelerate the transition to a greener future.

Que: Carport and rooftop solar solutions are gaining traction in urban and industrial setups. How is AB Energia adapting its technology and designs to meet varying client needs?

Ans: AB Energia has established itself as a leading innovator in India’s solar EPC sector by delivering tailor-made solar solutions, including carport and rooftop installations that address the unique requirements of urban and industrial clients. Carport and rooftop solutions are engineered to seamlessly integrate with existing buildings and parking facilities. This not only generates clean energy but also enhances the utility of underused spaces, such as transforming parking lots into dual-purpose energy hubs with solar carports.

Our commitment to innovation and client-centric design enables us to deliver solar solutions that are both practical and sustainable, contributing to our clients' operational efficiency and environmental goals.

Que: How is the company scaling its operations to meet growing demand across geographies? Are there any plans to expand internationally?

Ans: AB Energia is actively meeting the growing demand for renewable energy solutions by expanding its project portfolio across diverse geographies both within India and internationally. With a firm presence already established in overseas markets, the company continues to deliver customised clean energy solutions driven by engineering excellence, sustainability, and innovation.

In addition, AB Energia has executed several notable projects that further reinforce its diverse capabilities:
• 6 MWp rooftop solar power plant across Jindal Stainless and its associate companies in Haryana
• 254.6 kWp carport solar power plant for Oleander Farms/Salt Restaurant, at Karjat, Maharashtra
• 340 kWp rooftop solar projects for Club Mahindra resorts in Kerala and Goa
• 35.64 kWp rooftop solar project for the New Delhi Police Headquarters
• 90 kWp rooftop, ground-mounted, and carport solar power plant for GBTI Bank, Diamond Branch, Guyana, South America – marking a significant step in AB Energia’s global expansion

These projects not only highlight AB Energia’s ability to adapt solar solutions for different industries and environments but also reflect its growing international presence. With a vision to contribute meaningfully to the global clean energy transition, AB Energia continues to explore international opportunities while strengthening its presence across India.

By combining engineering expertise with sustainable innovation, AB Energia is well-positioned to scale responsibly and drive the shift towards a greener, more energy-efficient future.
