Our roadmap over the next three to five years focuses on scaling responsibly while deepening our impact on India’s EV ecosystem, said Sameer Moidin, Founder & CEO, EVeium Smart Mobility, in an interview with Abha Rustagi, Associate Editor, Energetica India.

Que: EVeium has placed strong emphasis on localisation of manufacturing and component sourcing. Could you explain your strategy around this?

Ans: Localisation drives everything we do, shaping how we build electric two-wheelers that are reliable, durable, and truly suited to Indian roads. Producing and sourcing components within India allows us to maintain strict quality standards, optimise costs, and deliver faster, more efficient service to customers. This approach empowers integration of advanced features that enhance safety, convenience, and energy efficiency while giving us the agility to innovate rapidly and respond to evolving consumer needs. Localisation also strengthens supply-chain resilience, supports domestic manufacturing, generates local employment, and reinforces a sustainable ecosystem, ensuring that our every vehicle, from scooters like Cosmo, Comet, and Czar to motorcycles such as Enervio and Voltura, reflects long-term durability, performance, and practical accessibility while contributing to India’s clean mobility goals.

Que: How do you maintain premium build quality, performance and design while also reducing costs via localisation?

Ans: We achieve a balance between premium quality and cost efficiency through meticulous design and close collaboration with local suppliers. Sourcing high-grade materials and components domestically gives us tighter control over manufacturing standards and allows us to refine performance, safety, and durability across every model. Working with local partners creates faster feedback loops, enabling iterative improvements in tolerances, ergonomics, and reliability. Reducing logistics and import dependencies lowers costs, which we reinvest into advanced features like swappable lithium-ion batteries, regenerative braking, and rider-focused controls. This approach ensures EVeium vehicles deliver a superior riding experience with premium build and performance while remaining affordable, sustainable, and perfectly suited to Indian commuting conditions.

Que: What manufacturing or technology partnerships or supply-chain innovations have you instituted to strengthen your 'Make in India' agenda?

Ans: We have built a network of strategic partnerships with local manufacturers and technology providers to strengthen our Make-in-India agenda, focusing on high-quality, and domestically sourced components like lithium-ion batteries, brushless DC hub motors, and hydraulic braking systems. These collaborations allow us to maintain strict quality standards, optimise costs, and integrate advanced features such as regenerative braking, swappable batteries, and ergonomic rider-focused designs. On the deployment side, partnerships with companies like SunEdge enable efficient distribution, faster market reach, and robust after-sales support, ensuring our scooters and motorcycles are accessible across India. Supply-chain innovations, including streamlined assembly processes and efficient inventory management, complement these efforts by reducing lead times and enhancing reliability.

Que: The Indian two-wheeler EV market is evolving rapidly. What are the key trends you are seeing today in terms of consumer demand, technology, regulation and competition?

Ans: The Indian two-wheeler EV market is evolving at an exciting pace, with consumers increasingly seeking affordable, reliable, and high-utility electric vehicles that make daily commuting easier while reducing running costs. Technology is advancing rapidly, with longer-range batteries, swappable packs, regenerative braking, and smart connectivity becoming standard expectations. Supportive government policies, subsidies, and production-linked incentives are accelerating adoption, while emerging regulatory frameworks are shaping infrastructure and safety standards. Competition is intensifying as both legacy brands and new EV-focused players expand their presence, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. In this dynamic landscape, we focus on delivering vehicles that combine performance, durability, and convenience, supported by a strong dealer network and strategic partnerships, ensuring that EVeium not only keeps pace with market trends but also sets benchmarks in accessibility, sustainability, and rider-focused innovation.

Que: Given the competitive pressure from established players and new entrants, what is your strategic roadmap for growth over the next 3-5 years?

Ans: Our roadmap over the next three to five years focuses on scaling responsibly while deepening our impact on India’s EV ecosystem. We aim to expand our product portfolio with scooters and motorcycles that integrate advanced features like swappable lithium-ion batteries, regenerative braking, multiple speed modes, and ergonomic rider-focused designs, catering to diverse commuter needs. Building a stronger presence in Tier-1, Tier-2, and emerging urban markets through an expanded dealer network and strategic partnerships, including collaborations with companies like SunEdge, will ensure wider accessibility and robust after-sales support. Localisation of manufacturing and components remains a key pillar, helping us optimise costs, maintain premium quality, and innovate rapidly. Alongside this, we will continue educating consumers about sustainable mobility and integrating technology that enhances convenience and safety, positioning EVeium as a trusted, Made-in-India brand that delivers performance, reliability, and environmental responsibility at scale.
