June 05, 2025. By News Bureau

Que: What inspired Tembo Global's recent diversification into the renewable energy sector, particularly solar MEP?
Ans: Tembo Global Industries began with humble roots, driven by a strong belief in seizing every opportunity that arises. The decision to diversify into the renewable energy sector, particularly solar MEP, was inspired by the recognition that the renewable energy sector is not only an opportunity but a responsibility for every individual to contribute toward a sustainable future. Additionally, the Indian government's commitment to achieving 500 GW of energy generation through renewable sources by 2030 has significantly boosted the sector, creating abundant opportunities for businesses. Solar energy, in particular, offers immense growth potential, thanks to India’s vast resources, continuous technological advancements, and government incentives aimed at promoting sustainability. This convergence of factors encouraged Tembo Global to actively participate in the renewable energy revolution.
Que: What are the initial projects and partnerships Tembo Global has undertaken in solar MEP?
Ans: Tembo Global has secured a significant 124 MW Letter of Award (LOA) from MSEDCL, Maharashtra, under the PM Kusum Scheme. This marks a key milestone in our solar MEP journey. Additionally, we are actively exploring opportunities within the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector, aiming to expand our solar MEP projects and contribute to the growth of renewable energy solutions. These strategic initiatives not only reflect our commitment to sustainability but also reinforce our position in the rapidly growing renewable energy market, positioning Tembo Global as a key player in India’s clean energy transformation.
Que: How does Tembo Global strategically integrate sustainability in its operation, particularly in the power and renewable energy sectors?
Ans: Tembo Global is deeply committed to sustainability, with a strategic focus on integrating renewable energy into our business portfolio. This commitment not only supports our environmental goals but also creates employment opportunities at local levels, contributing to community development. We are actively exploring a diverse range of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and biomass, to expand our sustainability efforts in the coming years. Additionally, Tembo Global is keen to collaborate on EV charging stations powered by solar energy, aligning with India’s growing demand for clean, efficient energy solutions. Through these initiatives, we aim to play a key role in driving the transition to a sustainable and low-carbon future.
Que: Are there any specific innovations or technologies in solar energy that Tembo Global is currently exploring or implementing?
Ans: Tembo Global is actively exploring innovative solar energy solutions, focusing on integrating Energy Storage Systems to enhance the efficiency and reliability of solar power generation. We are also venturing into Floating Solar projects, which offer significant potential in maximising space utilisation and generating renewable energy in water bodies. These cutting-edge technologies align with our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and optimising the use of available resources for a cleaner, greener future.
Que: What are the key challenges Tembo Global faces in the renewable energy and solar MEP sectors, and how are you addressing them?
Ans: The biggest challenge Tembo Global faces in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar MEP, is the heavy upfront investment required for these projects. To address this, we believe that improving access to better and faster financing options is crucial. Streamlining funding mechanisms and exploring innovative financial models will not only reduce the financial burden but also accelerate the achievement of India’s ambitious energy targets. By making financing more accessible, we can foster faster growth and contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals.
Que: How do current government policies and incentives influence your solar energy ventures, and what changes would you advocate to further promote renewable energy?
Ans: The current 124 MW solar energy project that Tembo Global is working on is under the PM Kusum Scheme, which encourages the use of domestic solar panels with Central Financial Assistance. This scheme not only boosts the adoption of indigenous solar cells and modules but also aids in the financial planning and returns of such projects. To further promote the growth of renewable energy, the government can support by providing more reliable transmission infrastructure and robust payment security for large-scale government projects. These measures will help reduce risks and improve the financial viability of renewable energy ventures. We are hopeful for more such favourable government policies across all sectors of renewable energy, as they are crucial in accelerating the transition to a sustainable energy future.
Que: What is your outlook on the future of the solar energy sector in India?
Ans: The future of solar energy in India is incredibly bright. While we are still behind in reaching the target of 500 GW, this presents significant opportunities for growth and expansion within the sector. There is a vast untapped potential for companies to contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals. At Tembo Global, we are committed to playing an active role in this journey by setting ambitious targets and embracing new innovations. As India’s solar energy market continues to grow, we are excited to be a part of this optimistic and transformative shift towards sustainability.
Que: What role do you think women play in driving the renewable energy sector forward, and how can their participation be further encouraged?
Ans: Women play a crucial role in advancing the renewable energy sector by driving innovation, leadership, and sustainability. Their presence fosters diverse perspectives, leading to more inclusive and effective decision-making. From research and engineering to policy-making and operations, women contribute significantly to accelerating the global energy transition.
To further encourage their participation, we must promote STEM education, provide mentorship, and create inclusive workplace policies. Government and corporate initiatives should focus on skill development, leadership training, and equal opportunities. Ensuring a supportive ecosystem with flexible work environments and gender-diverse leadership will empower more women to take active roles in shaping the future of renewable energy.
At Tembo Global Industries, we believe in fostering gender diversity to drive sustainable growth and innovation in the sector.
