Que: The solar cable market is becoming increasingly competitive, with both domestic and international manufacturers expanding their presence in India. What differentiates Anand E-Beam’s cable technology and product portfolio today?
Ans: Anand E-Beam has built its cable business around technology, reliability and compliance, rather than competing purely on price. Our core strength comes from our long experience with electron-beam technology, which gives us the ability to develop cables with enhanced thermal, mechanical and environmental performance.
In solar, we offer cables manufactured to international and Indian requirements. Our focus is on developing products that can perform reliably over the long operating life expected from solar installations.
At the same time, we are building a broader portfolio covering solar DC, EV, railway, automotive and other specialised cables. This diversification allows us to take our E-Beam technology into applications where performance and durability are critical.
Que: With solar projects increasingly moving toward higher DC voltages and larger utility-scale installations, how is Anand E-Beam adapting its cable portfolio to meet these evolving technical requirements?
Ans: The solar industry is moving rapidly toward larger projects, higher system voltages and higher power densities. This means cables are expected to deliver higher reliability under more demanding thermal, electrical and environmental conditions. We are therefore expanding our portfolio around 1.5 kV DC solar cables, while continuing to focus on material technology, insulation performance, ageing resistance and long-term reliability.
For us, the objective is to ensure that the complete cable system, including conductor, insulation, sheath, electron-beam cross-linking and manufacturing controls, can consistently meet the required standards.
Que: The company has also highlighted applications beyond solar, including solar pumps, railways, automotive and EVs. Which of these segments are currently seeing the strongest traction, and where do you see the biggest growth opportunity?
Ans: Solar remains our largest growth engine, particularly with the continued expansion of utility-scale projects and distributed solar applications. However, we are seeing encouraging opportunities in railways, automotive and EV charging, where our E-Beam technology has a natural fit because these applications demand high reliability, temperature resistance and mechanical performance.
Railways and automotive are particularly interesting for us because they require a different level of technical qualification compared with conventional cables. We are already working on products and qualification programs for these markets. Over the longer term, I see a significant opportunity in specialised cables, where customers are looking not merely for a commodity cable but for a technically qualified and reliable solution.
Que: With India increasingly focusing on domestic manufacturing and supply-chain resilience, how is Anand E-Beam strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and sourcing ecosystem?
Ans: Our approach is to build manufacturing capability ahead of market demand while maintaining tight control over quality. We are investing in capacity expansion, process automation, testing infrastructure and E-Beam capabilities, while also strengthening our raw-material and component sourcing ecosystem. An important part of our strategy is to reduce dependence on a single source and develop a more resilient supply chain. At the same time, we are increasing our internal technical capabilities so that product development, testing and quality control remain strongly integrated with manufacturing. Our objective is to become a globally competitive Indian cable manufacturer, rather than simply a supplier to the domestic market.
Que: What are the biggest challenges you currently see in India's solar-cable market? Is it quality standardisation, counterfeit products, raw-material costs, price competition or awareness among developers?
Ans: I would say the biggest challenge is maintaining a clear distinction between a compliant, technically reliable product and a cable that is competing primarily on price. Solar cables are expected to operate for decades, often under high temperature, UV exposure, moisture and other harsh environmental conditions. Therefore, the initial purchase price should not be the only consideration. The industry needs greater emphasis on standardisation, traceability, proper certification and consistent manufacturing quality. Raw-material volatility and price competition are also realities of the market. But from a manufacturer's perspective, the larger challenge is creating awareness. Although cable is a relatively small component of the overall solar project, a cable failure can have a disproportionately large impact on generation, maintenance and project economics.
Que: What have you showcased at REI Expo 2026?
Ans: At REI 2026, we showcased Anand as a technology-driven cable manufacturer, rather than presenting ourselves only as another solar-cable supplier. Our primary focus was our 1.5 kV DC solar cable portfolio, including products compliant with IEC 62930, EN 50618 and IS 17293/BIS. We also showcased our capabilities in E-Beam technology and specialised cables, including products and development work for railway, automotive and EV applications.
Another important message at our booth was our next phase of capacity expansion. We are investing in additional manufacturing infrastructure to support the growth we expect in India as well as international markets. For us, REI was therefore not just about displaying products; it was about demonstrating where Anand E-Beam is heading over the next phase of its growth.
Que: What are your expansion plans over the next five to ten years in terms of manufacturing capacity, new product lines and geographic reach?
Ans: Our ambition is to build Anand E-Beam into a significant Indian cable manufacturer with a strong international presence. Over the next five to ten years, we intend to substantially expand manufacturing capacity, particularly in solar and specialised cables, while adding new product categories where our E-Beam technology provides a competitive advantage.
Our strategy is essentially built around three pillars: capacity, technology and globalisation. We want to increase capacity to support large projects, continuously invest in technology and certifications, and build a strong international distribution and customer network.
Our long-term vision is to establish Anand as a globally recognised Indian cable brand, with technology and quality at the centre of the business. We are moving from being a cable manufacturer to becoming a technology-driven, globally competitive cable company from India.
