Que: You’re an IIT graduate who chose to venture into the renewable energy space. What inspired your transition into solar entrepreneurship?
Ans: Innovation, research and studies have always been at the core of my journey. Before introducing Exolar Energy, I worked in an important role within the solar domain, which gave me a deep insight into the challenges and opportunities of the industry. What I saw was a major difference between commitments and distribution, as well as lack of technical knowledge in executing projects effectively. I saw it as an opportunity to make it a real impact. With strong entrepreneurial drive and technical expertise, I established Exolar Energy with a vision to deliver solar projects with integrity, precision, and innovation—empowering customers with reliable, sustainable energy solutions while setting new benchmarks of trust and excellence in the solar ecosystem.
Que: What makes your solar solutions different from what everyone else is offering in the market?
Ans: While the solar industry has matured, Exolar Energy continues to differentiate itself through a systematic approach, strong processes, and uncompromising quality standards. Our goal is to provide such a comfortable experience that customers naturally give us five stars. Each structure we established is designed for long-term strength-to stay rust-free using hot-dip galvanised materials, oversized foundation for extra stability, and adhesive binding to withstand high wind forces. At the same time, we focus on aesthetics and motion, ensuring rapidly tracked net metering and customised site-specific solutions. By sourcing products directly from manufacturers, we also guarantee timely warranty. This mixture of durability, efficiency and customer-execution makes us in the market.
Que: Aesthetics often take a backseat in utility-driven installations. Why is design and visual integration important in solar, and how does Exolar address this aspect?
Ans: For most families, building a house is a lifetime investment at a time, and they do not want anything less than the best materials and workmanship. When they choose solar, it is not only about saving electrical bills - they also want their home to look beautiful. In Exolar energy, we consider it an essential part of the journey. This is why we never cite by closing our eyes. Each project begins with a wide site trip, followed by 3D design and shade analysis. Pricing is shared only after the design is approved.
Our in-house installation team focuses on both performance and aesthetics—smart-looking foundations, well-aligned structures, neat cabling, and perfectly arranged modules. We want customers to feel proud to showcase their rooftop solar system. While we always respect customer preferences on design, we never compromise on technical integrity, ensuring systems that are safe, sustainable, and elegant.
Que: Could you share some key numbers like how many rooftops you’ve electrified, the total installed capacity, and the amount of CO₂ emissions you’ve helped avoid to date?
Ans: Exolar energy is perfectly committed to solar adoption on the roof, and our number reflects that focus. Under the PM Surya Ghar program, we have successfully electrified more than 100 roofs. Beyond the residential installations, we have increased our expertise on a large scale for institutional and commercial projects. Some of our remarkable work includes 500 kW installation at Guwahati University, 250 kW at IILM University and 600 KW in Amity University.
In addition, we have delivered projects across hospitals, factories, schools, showrooms and even temples - assuming that clean energy can provide electricity to diverse places. Overall, we have installed a 7 MW roof close to solar capacity, which not only helps our customers to reduce their energy bills, but also contributes to stability by avoiding about 10,000 tons of CO₂ emissions every year.
Que: India’s rooftop solar sector is gaining momentum, but challenges remain. What are the biggest hurdles today for residential and small business adoption?
Ans: India's roof solar sector is moving in the right direction, thanks to the strong efforts from the government. However, many obstacles between homes and small businesses are still slow adoption. One of the biggest challenges is the cost- DCR module, while it is important to promote Indian manufacturing, an increase in project prices. High upfront investment and expensive EMIs also discourage many customers despite a proven long -term savings of solar.
Another barrier is the tedious net metering process, which often causes delays and causes disappointment. At the same time, many customers focus only at the lowest price, causing poor quality establishments that damage the credibility of the industry. At its top, concerns about long -term maintenance and post -sales support are hesitant to customers.
At Exolar energy, we believe that transparent education, quality-powered execution, and strong post-installation service are important for overcoming these obstacles and building customer trust.
Que: What role do you believe customer service and post-installation support play in improving solar adoption and retention?
Ans: Customer service and post-installation support are, in my view, the most important aspects of the rooftop solar journey. The biggest fear customers have is: ‘Who will take care of my system after installation?’ Unless that fear is addressed, adoption will always remain limited. EPC companies must take responsibility and assure customers that they will not be left alone once the project is complete.
At Exolar Energy, we provide up to five years of free maintenance on our installations, because we believe service is not just support—it is the most powerful form of marketing. A satisfied customer speaks louder than any advertisement. In fact, many of our new projects come through referrals from happy clients. For us, installation builds a plant, but service builds a relationship—and these relationships are what truly drive long-term adoption and trust in rooftop solar.
