Zelestra, a global multi-technology renewable energy company, has announced that it has signed a long-term power purchase agreement to supply 39 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy to Seshasayee Paper and Boards Ltd. (SPB) from its upcoming 150 MW co-located wind-solar hybrid project in Tamil Nadu.

The project will be built, owned, and operated by Zelestra and is slated for commissioning by February-March 2026. The plant will supply renewable energy to commercial and industrial (C&I) clients under the Intra State Open Access model.

The 39 MW supply is expected to deliver 7.2 crore units of green power annually, helping SPB reduce its CO₂ emissions by an estimated 57.6 metric tons per year compared to conventional grid power.

Commenting on the development, Sajay K.V., CEO of Zelestra India said, “We are excited about our green energy collaboration with SPB who is very keenly focused on greening their grid. This marks just the initial phase of our C&I growth strategy, with plans to incorporate 1 GW into our portfolio exclusively from Commercial and Industrial business by 2026. Our strategically located resources along with GNA certainty pipeline of 5 GW across seven states position us to offer customised green energy solutions that meet the specific requirements of our industrial clients.”

He further added, “Tamil Nadu has consistently led India's renewable energy transition, and with our team’s 1+ GW execution experience in Tamil Nadu, makes it the perfect location for our first C&I wind-solar hybrid project. By combining the naturally complementary wind and solar technologies, we can deliver reliable power that effectively addresses the manufacturing sector's energy needs.”

With a portfolio of 29 GW of carbon-free projects in 13 countries, Zelestra is a vertically integrated company specialised in the development, commercialisation, construction and operation of large-scale renewable energy projects. Zelestra in India has a pipeline of more than 5.4 GW of clean energy projects across 7 states.
