Zelestra, a global multi-technology renewable energy company, has announced the full commercial operations at its 300 MWdc San Martín solar plant in Peru.

Delivered in under 18 months, led by Zelestra’s internal EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) division, San Martín supported 900 jobs at the peak of construction. The solar plant, which consists of 450,000 modules, will generate over 830 GWh of clean energy annually. This is equivalent to powering more than 440,000 homes and preventing over 166,549 tons of CO2 emissions each year, the company said in a statement.

Delivered on time and on budget, the project now supplies clean energy to its customer, Kallpa Generación, via a long-term PPA. The clean electricity produced is helping to enable the company to continue diversifying energy sources for its clients in Perú, it said.

Commenting on the development, Leo Moreno, CEO of Zelestra, said, “The successful delivery of San Martin reinforces our commitment to a customer-first approach. By leveraging our global expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction, we can successfully co-build tailored solutions that bring projects to life on time and on budget. We are proud to see the most ambitious solar project in Perú now fully operational, and we look forward to a long-term partnership with Kallpa in delivering clean, reliable energy for years to come.”

Zelestra is a major clean energy company in Latin America, with more than 7 GW of BESS and solar projects in its pipeline in Perú, Chile and Colombia. Over 1.7 GW is already contracted with customers in the region, which supported the company being recently named among the top 10 sellers of clean energy to corporate customers globally by BloombergNEF (BNEF). The same report shows that Zelestra is ranked in second place for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
