Azerbaijan-based industrial group Zakh Renewable Energy and Engineering Manufacturing has launched a new solar panel and Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), strengthening its manufacturing presence in the UAE.

Located on a 30,000 sq m plot in the Al Ghail Industrial Zone, the facility currently has an annual production capacity of 600 MW of solar panels and up to 500,000 sq m of BIPV façade solutions.

The facility will manufacture conventional solar panels as well as customised BIPV façade solutions designed for integration into building structures. The products are intended to serve customers across the UAE, the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and international markets.

Zakh Chief Operating Officer Marina Strateva said that establishing the manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah marks an important milestone in the company’s growth. The strategic location will enable the company to supply solar panels and customised BIPV façade solutions to markets in the UAE, GCC and beyond.

Zakh’s solar technology brand, FAERS, originated as a research and development initiative in Azerbaijan in 2017 and has since developed into industrial-scale photovoltaic technology manufacturing. Its solutions are designed to operate in high-temperature and desert environments.

Strateva said  that RAKEZ has provided the infrastructure and business environment required to support Zakh’s manufacturing ambitions. The company also plans to expand its capabilities as demand for cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions grows across the region.

RAKEZ Group CEO Ramy Jallad said that Zakh’s facility adds specialised renewable energy manufacturing capabilities to Ras Al Khaimah’s industrial ecosystem. He said that local production capacity could help strengthen supply chains, advance industrial capabilities and serve growing regional and international markets.

Zakh plans to expand its solar module manufacturing capacity to more than 1.8 GW in the coming years. Its products will primarily target the UAE and the wider Gulf and MENA markets, with additional reach into Africa, Europe and the US.
