Welspun Renewables has announced that it has been recognized with the Strategy Award 2015, bestowed by the Institute for Competitiveness, the organizers of the acclaimed Porter Prize. The IPP has created its own niche by adopting a wider role in promoting green energy not just in India but across the country. Due to its exemplary strategic expertise, Welspun Renewables has been able to positively contribute towards the overall adoption of renewable energy not just nationally but across the globe. A jury panel consisting of leading academicians and industry experts evaluated organizations on sustainability and competitiveness of their business model.
On the occasion Vineet Mittal, Vice Chairman Welspun Renewables commented “In our quest to create a sustainable impact on India’s energy landscape we have been focusing on excellence. Within last few years, the company has built some of the largest solar projects across challenging geographic locations. All our projects have common elements – they are built within committed timelines and are performing optimally. Expanding across eight states in the country, we have tried to help states transition to green energy faster and sustainably. To be adjudged for all these efforts by the Porter Prize’s grand jury and awarded for our strategy is an honor. This is a memorable moment for all of us at Welspun Renewables. All this has been possible because of Welspun Renewables’ unique ‘Dare to Commit’ spirit.”
Welspun Renewables has been aggressively working to bring a difference to the country’s energy landscape. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 175 GW renewable energy vision, the organization is committed to setting up mega renewable capacities across the country. Towards this goal, in next few years Welspun Renewables will be setting up 5000 MW capacities, and of this 1000 MW will be commissioned well within this financial year.
At present the organization’s solar and wind projects are spread across 8 different states in the country. Till date through its clean energy projects Welspun Renewables has cumulatively generated over 1.375 billion units of clean energy and mitigated 1.2 million tons of CO2 emissions.
