Kolkata-based solar cells and modules manufacturer Websol Energy System has announced that its subsidiary Websol Renewables has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) for evaluating the establishment a 4 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.
This proposed expansion is central to Websol’s long-term strategy to significantly scale its renewable energy manufacturing footprint in India, the company said in a statement.
The MoU was signed by Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director, Websol Energy System. Sanjana Khaitan and Amrit Daga represented Websol at the ceremony and received the signed document from the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Commenting on the development, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director, Websol Energy System, said, “We are delighted to have entered into this MoU with APEDB as an important step towards the implementation of Websol's strategic growth plans. In September 2025, Websol announced its plan to develop a 4 GW solar cell and module facility in two phases, bringing its total capacity to 5.2 GW.”
He further added, “With over three decades of technical expertise in solar cell manufacturing, we are scaling up to deliver high efficiency solar based products to our customers across India. This investment phase reflects our vision to contribute to India's clean energy leadership and create lasting value for all stakeholders.”
