Kolkata-based solar cells and modules manufacturer Websol Energy System has announced the appointment of Vinay Vyas as Chief Executive Officer of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Websol Renewables.

Vyas brings over 18 years of experience in renewable energy and energy storage. He has worked on a clean energy portfolio of more than 8 GW, valued at INR 24,000 crore, and led the development of what is described as the world's first integrated green hydrogen and ammonia project at ACME Cleantech, Websol stated.

His roles have included Chief Executive Officer of FusionX Energy, Group Lead (Vice President) for renewable power, BESS and green hydrogen at Welspun Group, and Director of the Global Renewable Energy Center at Canadian Solar. He also chaired the Energy Storage Committee at the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) in 2025.

Commenting on the appointment, Sohan Lal Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Websol Energy System, said, “We are pleased to welcome Vyas to Websol Renewables. His track record of building renewable businesses at scale, will be valuable as we expand further along the solar value chain. Backed by Websol's three decades in solar manufacturing, we look forward to his contribution in creating long-term value for all stakeholders.”

Sharing his thoughts on the appointment, Vinay Vyas said, “It is a great opportunity to join Websol Renewables. Websol has built a strong legacy in solar manufacturing, and Sohan Lal Agarwal's leadership has taken the company to an important stage of growth. I see a clear opportunity to build the business at scale and look forward to working with the entire team to take it to new heights.”

Websol crossed INR 1,000 crore in revenue in FY26 and plans to take its manufacturing capacity to 5,350 MW of solar cells and 4,550 MW of modules by 2028. Websol Renewables extends the company's presence further along the solar value chain. Vyas's experience in solar module manufacturing strategy at Canadian Solar, and in energy storage and energy trading at FusionX Energy, where he secured a CERC energy trading licence, is relevant to this next phase, Websol stated.
