Waaree Energies’ WCES Plans Specialty Gases Plant in Gujarat

Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies, has entered into India's specialty gases business. WCES aims to be a one-stop supplier to the country's semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers.

India is expanding chip and electronics manufacturing under the Semicon India 2.0 programme. High-purity process gases and chemicals are still largely imported, and that supply has become a critical bottleneck. WCES is building a specialty gases plant at GIDC Saykha, Dahej, Gujarat, to close that gap with domestic supply across India.

Anuj Sharma, CEO, WCES, said, “Semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing cannot scale in India without a reliable, high-purity gas and chemical supply chain alongside it. This is a natural extension of our deep-tech manufacturing and clean energy expertise. It positions us to serve India's fabs, OSAT and ATMP units, advanced electronics manufacturers and solar cell lines from day one, with products on the ground.”

WCES is developing its business in phases, with a focus on building capabilities for semiconductor-grade gases and related infrastructure. The plan includes multi-purpose specialty gas warehousing and handling facilities designed to meet semiconductor-grade safety and purity standards, along with a dedicated unit for Ultra-High-Purity (UHP) ammonia purification. The company also plans to establish a Phosphine/Hydrogen (PH₃/H₂) mixing plant to produce precision gas blends for doping and deposition processes. In addition, WCES is expanding its portfolio to include UHP oxygen, while UHP hydrogen is already commercially available.

The company will also design custom gas and chemical supply systems and nitrogen plants. Its Total Gas and Chemical Management System will cover storage, delivery, safety monitoring and inventory, so customers can focus on their core processes. The UHP portfolio includes Silane, Ammonia, Nitrous Oxide, Phosphine mixtures, Boron Trichloride (BCl₃), Trimethyl Aluminium, Diborane and Germane/H₂ mixes, HBr, SF₆, Nitric Oxide, fluorinated gases and calibration gases. All of it will be backed by pan-India supply.

The new business builds on WCES's clean energy manufacturing base, which includes its electrolyser stack facility. Government incentives are expanding semiconductor and solar cell capacity, and the gases business is designed to grow with it and give manufacturers a dependable alternative to imports.
