Waaree Energies Ltd. has emerged as India’s largest solar module manufacturer under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), with total domestic capacity crossing 20 GW, according to the latest notification issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

As per the updated ALMM listing, Waaree’s manufacturing facility at Chikhli, Gujarat, has been approved for 16.444 GW, taking the company’s cumulative India-based solar module manufacturing capacity, including Indosolar, to 20.17 GW.

The revised ALMM list also features Waaree’s new high-efficiency module offerings from the Chikhli plant, including G12R TOPCon, G12 TOPCon, and G12 HJT modules, strengthening the company’s presence across advanced photovoltaic technologies. These modules are designed to cater to utility-scale, commercial and industrial (C&I), and rooftop solar installations.

Commenting on the development, Sunil Rathi, Executive Director, Waaree Group, said that the expanded ALMM approval reflects the company’s focus on scale, technology leadership, and domestic manufacturing. He added that the inclusion of TOPCon and HJT modules would help meet evolving project requirements while enhancing supply chain confidence for developers and policymakers.

The development comes as India accelerates solar capacity additions in pursuit of its 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity target by 2030, with domestic manufacturing playing a key role in energy security, cost stability, and quality assurance.

As per the firm, Waaree Energies operates solar PV module manufacturing capacity of approximately 22.77 GW globally, with solar cell capacity of 20.17 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the US. The company has operations across India and more than 25 international markets, with a portfolio spanning solar manufacturing, EPC services, green hydrogen, battery energy storage systems, and renewable energy infrastructure.
