In a major step toward its India debut, Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast inaugurated its first showroom in the country, located in Surat, Gujarat. The launch was announced by its Indian subsidiary, VinFast Auto India, marking the brand’s formal retail entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets.

Operated under the banner 'VinFast Surat', the dealership is promoted by Chandan Car. As per the firm, the 3,000 square-foot showroom, located in Piplod, is designed to serve as a one-stop destination for prospective EV buyers. It will provide immersive product experiences, a smooth purchase process, and reliable after-sales support. The facility will display VinFast’s upcoming line of premium electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, which are now open for pre-booking across India. The company officially opened bookings on July 15, 2025, with customers able to reserve their vehicles either at showrooms or online via VinFastAuto.in by paying a fully refundable amount of INR 21,000.

VinFast plans to locally assemble these vehicles at its upcoming factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The facility is expected to be a key driver in the brand’s strategy to make India a major production hub in its global operations.

Speaking at the showroom launch, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said, “The first VinFast showroom in Surat, Gujarat is a symbol of our deep commitment to India. We are excited to bring the VinFast experience closer to Indian consumers. With this dealership in Gujarat, we aim to offer not just electric vehicles, but a complete ownership journey built on quality, trust, and service excellence.”

He further added, “With trusted partners like Chandan Car, we are building a future-ready EV ecosystem in the country. Their proven automotive expertise, combined with VinFast’s technology and vision, will help shape a premium EV experience for Indian customers."

VinFast’s India journey is backed by a range of strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening its national footprint. The company has teamed up with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to build a widespread network for charging and after-sales services. In line with its sustainability vision, VinFast has also entered into a collaboration with BatX Energies, a homegrown clean-tech company, to support battery recycling and create a circular battery value chain. These partnerships reflect the company’s mission to drive the future of transportation through responsible innovation.

VinFast is a subsidiary of Vingroup JSC, one of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerates. According to the firm's statement, the company is a pure-play electric vehicle manufacturer offering a range of electric SUVs, e-scooters, and electric buses.

India, with its evolving EV ecosystem and rising demand for sustainable mobility, stands as a crucial pillar in the company's international roadmap. It may be mentioned that, earlier this month, Tesla officially entered the Indian EV scene by launching its first Experience Centre at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
