Vikram Solar has commissioned a 5 GW module manufacturing plant at Vallam in Tamil Nadu. With this, the company’s total manufacturing capacity rises to 9.5 GW.

Spread across 27,000 sq. m, the Vallam unit is built on TOPCon technology with provisions for future upgrades to HJT and compatibility with M10, G12 and G12R formats. The facility features a high level of automation, including intelligent robotics, precision material-handling systems, integrated quality checks and automated packaging, much of which is being deployed in India for the first time. According to the company, this is expected to improve manufacturing accuracy, increase throughput and enhance process reliability.

The expanded capacity is aimed at supplying higher-performance, lower-failure modules for utility-scale, commercial and industrial, and distributed generation customers. Vikram Solar said the automation layer is designed to reduce defects, improve durability and ensure consistent production timelines, with all modules meeting Tier-1 and global quality standards.

The Vallam plant adds to Vikram Solar’s existing presence in Oragadam and follows the recent foundation ceremony of its upcoming Gangaikondan facility, reflecting a continued expansion of its manufacturing footprint in Tamil Nadu—one of India’s fastest-growing renewable energy hubs.

“Vallam is a defining milestone for Vikram Solar and for India’s solar manufacturing story,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director. “Commissioning this 5 GW facility within the year signals our readiness for the scale, speed and innovation the next decade demands," he noted.

Modules produced at Vallam will be supplied across India as the country works toward its renewable energy goals. The company is also targeting 40–50 percent gender diversity within the plant’s baseline workforce as part of its broader effort to promote inclusive industrial growth.
