Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) opened with PM Modi unveiling smart industrial estates and announcing the world’s largest hybrid energy park in Kutch.

Gujarat reinforced its position as India’s clean energy and industrial growth hub as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the world’s largest hybrid energy park in Kutch on the inaugural day of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Rajkot.
The conference, organised by the Government of Gujarat, began at Marwadi University, with a focus on regional development, industrial expansion and sustainable investments. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the proposed hybrid energy park in Kutch would span an area nearly five times the size of Paris, marking a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy journey.
During the event, PM Modi also inaugurated 13 new smart industrial estates and a medical devices park, aimed at strengthening Gujarat’s manufacturing and healthcare ecosystem. He highlighted Gujarat’s leadership in clean energy, infrastructure development and ease of doing business, stating that regional empowerment remains central to India’s long-term economic growth.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel emphasised the role of regional development in achieving national economic goals. He said initiatives such as the VGRC are designed to ensure balanced growth across districts while attracting quality investments and generating employment.
Major corporate investment announcements further underscored Gujarat’s industrial momentum. The Adani Group committed to investing INR 1.5 lakh crore in Kutch over the next five years, focusing on infrastructure, renewable energy and allied sectors. In a parallel announcement, Reliance Industries said it plans to invest INR 7 lakh crore in Gujarat during the same period, with a strong emphasis on clean energy, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
Addressing the conference, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani outlined plans to develop an integrated clean energy ecosystem at Jamnagar, which is expected to be the world’s largest of its kind. He also announced plans to establish Jamnagar as India’s largest AI-ready centre, aimed at providing affordable artificial intelligence capabilities to citizens and businesses across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Ketan Marwadi, President of Marwadi University, said that hosting the VGRC was a matter of pride for the institution. He noted that academic institutions play a crucial role in strengthening regional ecosystems by nurturing skilled talent, promoting innovation and aligning education with industry needs to support India’s long-term economic growth.
Jitu Bhai Chandarana, Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Marwadi University, said that he conference serves as a key platform for driving investment-led growth in the Kutch and Saurashtra regions. He added that hosting the event reflects Gujarat’s strong governance framework, industry-friendly policies and long-term vision for sustainable and inclusive prosperity.
