Vertiv, a US-based firm specialising in critical digital infrastructure, has launched its new Vertiv Training Academy and Technology Excellence Center at the company’s Integrated Business Services (IBS) hub in Pune. The initiative focuses on talent development, operational excellence, and next-generation digital infrastructure innovation.

The Academy introduces immersive, hands-on learning for engineers, technical specialists, business partners, and data center operators across colocation, cloud, enterprise, and industrial segments. Its open-format setup features live demonstrations of cooling distribution units, power switchgear systems, and three-phase UPS modules, giving participants real-world exposure to equipment commonly deployed in modern data centers.

Complementing this training ecosystem, the Technology Excellence Center houses advanced engineering and R&D labs aimed at accelerating innovation in power and thermal management. These labs support end-to-end testing, validation, and optimization of Vertiv’s digital infrastructure solutions, helping improve energy efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance for data centers and telecom networks worldwide.

The Pune facility includes five dedicated training bays, each designed to replicate customer operating environments. With live systems and updated digital tools, the center offers modular training aligned with Vertiv’s global standards, ensuring engineers stay current with evolving technologies, safety protocols, and implementation best practices.

Vertiv positions the new center as a strategic pillar of its broader IBS strategy, aimed at strengthening global service readiness and supporting the rapid expansion of AI-driven data center workloads. The company expects the facility to deepen innovation capabilities, enhance cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to Pune’s growing status as a global engineering talent hub. With India’s data center ecosystem accelerating due to AI, cloud, and digital transformation, the new training hub is positioned to support both domestic and global infrastructure growth.

“Pune has become a strategic global delivery hub for Vertiv, with plans to scale rapidly,” said Subhasis Majumdar, Managing Director, Vertiv India. “With the surge in AI investments in the data center space, we anticipate strong demand for a skilled and updated workforce. This training academy will play a pivotal role in upskilling engineers and customers to design and service both new and existing data centers," he added.

Highlighting India’s importance, Ryan Jarvis, Vice President, Global Services Business Unit, Vertiv, said, “India is an integral part of the Vertiv global services ecosystem, enabling us to deliver consistent excellence and agility to customers worldwide. The launch strengthens our ability to scale capabilities and embed best practices across regions.”

The academy is designed to advance skills in installation, maintenance, and high-density data center operations by combining experienced trainers, live systems, and advanced labs. David Yao, Senior Director – Pune Hub, Vertiv, said the facility will support wider industry needs as well. “This initiative lays the foundation for equipping technical talent not just within Vertiv, but also for global partners and customers who rely on us for mission-critical infrastructure.” he said and further added that the center will deepen engineering expertise, foster cross-functional innovation, and accelerate career development.

As part of Vertiv’s broader Hub/IBS strategy, the new center also functions as a development hub for AI-driven systems, next-generation white-space solutions, and advanced power and cooling technologies. According to the company, the Pune site will help cultivate a culture of continuous learning and high performance, supporting the city’s evolution into a global engineering and innovation hub.
