Vedanta’s TSPL Leads Power Generation in Punjab with 1,806 MW Output

Currently, the TSPL plant near Banawala is supplying the highest amount of electricity in Punjab. Unit 1 has generated 604 MW, Unit 2 has produced 627 MW, and Unit 3 has delivered 575 MW, resulting in a total generation of 1,806 MW.

With the increase in electricity consumption across Punjab ahead of summers season, Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), a private thermal power plant by Vedanta Power, located near village Banawala in Mansa district and the largest private thermal power plant in North India, has emerged as the top power producer in the state.
 
Private thermal plants in Punjab have collectively generated 3,136 MW of electricity out of a total capacity of 3,380 MW. In comparison, government-run thermal plants have generated 1,439 MW against a combined capacity of 2,300 MW.
 
Currently, the TSPL plant near Banawala is supplying the highest amount of electricity in Punjab. Unit 1 has generated 604 MW, Unit 2 has produced 627 MW, and Unit 3 has delivered 575 MW, resulting in a total generation of 1,806 MW. All three units are fully operational, with a total capacity of 1,980 MW.
 
Rajinder S. Ahuja, CEO of Vedanta Power stated, “We are aware that Punjab needs maximum power during this season to meet the requirements of the farmers.  Keeping this in mind, we are prepared to deliver consistent power from our plant. Looking at the demand, we are continuously increasing our coal stock, despite the challenges. We understand our responsibility towards Punjab and are fully prepared to supply of power during this season.”
 
At the Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant (GGSSTP), Ropar, a total of 593 MW has been generated. This includes 149 MW from Unit 3, 150 MW from Unit 4, 147 MW from Unit 5, and 147 MW from Unit 6, contributing to the state's power supply from a plant capacity of 840 MW.
 
At the Lehra Mohabbat-based Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHTP), a total of 596 MW was generated. This includes 186 MW each from Unit 1, 177 MW from Unit 2, and 232 MW from Unit 3, against the plant’s total capacity of 920 MW. At the Goindwal Sahib-based Guru Amardas Thermal Plant (GATP), 249 MW was generated from Unit 1. The plant has a total capacity of 540 MW.
 
The L&T Rajpura Thermal Plant generated 1,330 MW, with 654 MW from Unit 1 and 676 MW from Unit 2, operating close to its total capacity of 1,400 MW.
