Vedanta Aluminium, India’s aluminium producer, has achieved a hat-trick on the sustainability front, ranking 2nd globally in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for the aluminium industry.

The company also recorded its highest-ever score of 84/100, reflecting its commitment to embedding sustainability at the heart of its business strategy.

The S&P Global CSA is recognised as one of the world’s most rigorous ESG benchmarks, assessing companies across 62 industries on how effectively they manage and disclose environmental, social, and governance risks and opportunities.

Commenting on the achievement, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Ltd., said, “Sustained leadership in the S&P Global CSA for the third consecutive year is a proud moment for Vedanta Aluminium. Sustainability is core to how we operate, innovate, and grow. This recognition reinforces our responsibility to keep raising the bar in climate action, circularity, and social stewardship.”

Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, added, “Our consistent CSA leadership shows that strong ESG performance and business competitiveness go hand in hand. By integrating sustainability into our operations—from energy transition and resource efficiency to low-carbon product innovation—we are building resilience and long-term cost advantage. Our backward integration strategy positions us to meet growing global demand for responsibly produced aluminium.”

In FY25, Vedanta Aluminium achieved an 8.96 percent reduction in GHG intensity since FY21, consumed 1.57 billion units of renewable energy, recycled 16.79 million m³ of water, and achieved 100 percent fly ash utilisation through its Waste-to-Wealth program.

Vedanta Aluminium’s Restora and Restora Ultra brands, India’s first low-carbon aluminium range, are produced using renewable energy and verified with a footprint below 4 tCO₂e per tonne, meeting global low-carbon thresholds. These products are central to the company’s target of a 30 percent low-carbon aluminium portfolio by 2030, supported by efficiency measures, clean energy adoption, and credible offsets.

The company also advanced community initiatives, restoring 64 water bodies, leading afforestation drives, and supporting clean energy access for rural households. Vedanta Aluminium continues to make sustainability integral to industrial growth, delivering high-quality, responsibly produced aluminium for India and global markets.
