Uttarakhand Government Puts Up EV Charging Stations on Char Dham Yatra Route
Uttarakhand Government installs 25 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on the Char Dham Yatra route. An initiative to push efforts to make the pilgrimage eco-friendly. Charging stations to increase.

The Uttarakhand Government has set up 25 electric vehicle (EV) chargers on the Char Dham Yatra route to encourage pilgrims to turn to green mobility initiatives and adopt EVs for their journeys this year.
The EV charging stations have a total capacity of 60 kW, which is divided into two 30 kW charging guns at all places. Most of the EV charging stations have been set up on the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) property along the pilgrimage route. 25 EV chargers are currently serving the general public.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, reiterated the government’s conviction for the adoption and usage of EVs. He informed that the total number of chargers will be increased to 38 in the future. Out of the total 38 EV chargers, 28 are managed by the Uttarakhand Transport Department, while the remaining 10 will be overseen by the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd. (THDC).
The Yatra has already begun and will be conducted till the first week of November. However, the closing date might vary according to the climatic conditions of the regions.
