Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Invites Bids for 375 MW/1,500 MWh Standalone BESS Projects
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) has invited bids for setting up 375 MW/1,500 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the state under the Tranche-2 of the Viability Gap Funding. Bid submission closes on October 13, 2025.

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) has floated a tender for the supply of energy from 375 MW/ 1,500 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) located in Uttar Pradesh to be established with viability gap funding (VGF) support under PSDF.
Notably, this is the 6th BESS tender under the VGF Tranche-2 scheme. Till now, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh have issued BESS tenders under VGF Tranche-2 with a cumulative capacity of all these tenders at 15.5 GWh.
The BESSD shall be required to set up a BESS, with the primary objective of providing stored energy from the BESS to the buying entity, on an ‘on demand’ basis.
The charging power for the BESS project shall be arranged by BESSD from renewable energy sources. This is the second BESS tender with charging in the BESSD Scope. The first one was issued by NVVN.
Bidders need to pay INR 29,500 as a tender document fee. Further, they need to deposit INR 15 lakh (plus GST) as a bid processing fee. Bidders also need to furnish INR 8.96 lakh/MW as an earnest money deposit (EMD). Selected bidders need to deposit INR 22.40 lakh/MW as a performance bank guarantee (PNG).
The last date for submission of bids is October 13, 2025. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on October 16, 2025.
The minimum bid size must be 250 MWh (62.50 MW x 4 hours). The maximum capacity to be allotted to a single bidder shall be limited to 187.50 MW/750 MWh.
Setting up the BESS and interconnection of the BESS with the STU network, including the construction of Bay, will be under the scope of the BESSD.
The project can be located anywhere in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Land identification for the projects will be under the scope of BESSD.
The net worth of the bidder must be at least INR 89.60 lakh/MW of the quoted capacity, as on the last day of the preceding financial year. Additionally, the bidder must have a minimum annual turnover of INR 2.98 crore/MW of the quoted capacity in the preceding financial year.
