Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has floated a tender for setting up a cumulative of about 5 MWp rooftop solar projects on its various metro stations and depots under RESCO model.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, storage, civil work, erection of suitable structure, testing and commissioning of the rooftop solar projects. The bidder must also offer comprehensive operation and maintenance for 25 years.
The approximate total generation capacity at the Agra Metro Project is 2,510 kWp. This includes 600 kWp across six elevated stations from Taj East Gate to Fatehabad Road and ISBT to Sikandara (at 100 kWp per station). The underground stations from Taj Mahal to RBS College, namely Dr. Ambedkar Chowk, Mankameshwar, MDC, AGC, RKM, and RBS, will contribute 770 kWp. The PAC Depot in Agra, which includes IBL, SBL, Auto Coach Wash, RSS, and the Pump House, accounts for 950 kWp. Additionally, the Agra Metro Colony Towers A, B, and C will add 190 kWp.
In the Kanpur Metro Project, the total generation capacity is approximately 2,100 kWp. This includes 800 kWp across eight elevated stations from IIT Kanpur to LLR Metro Station (Priority Section), and 200 kWp at Motijheel Station. From Baradevi to Naubasta (Balance Section), five elevated stations contribute 500 kWp. Depot-2 (including IBL, SBL, Auto Coach Wash, RSS, and the Pump House) adds 540 kWp, while the Polytechnic Depot ASS Building (RCC) contributes 60 kWp.
Additionally, the Lucknow Metro segment from Amausi to Munshipulia, including Transport Nagar Depot, Munshipulia RSS, and the Metro Colony, has an approximate generation capacity of 400 kWp.
The approximate value of the tender is INR 20.42 crore. The projects must be completed within 24 months.
Bidders need to pay INR 23,600 as a tender document fee. Further, they need to furnish INR 40.84 lakh as an earnest money deposit (EMD).
The last date for submission of bids is May 30, 2025. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on May 31, 2025.
Maximum allowable levellised tariff for this part is INR 4.50/kWh.
The tender specifies that the size of each project may be in the range of 10 kWp to 400 kWp or more on each roof top unit and they can separately connect with the grid and may have separate energy meters.
Bidders, in the last seven years, must have successfully commissioned grid-connected solar PV plants of a minimum total capacity of 4,000 kWp for one such work, 2,500 kWp each for two such works and 2,000 kWp each for three such works.
The average annual turnover of the last five financial years must be more than INR 8.16 crore. The net worth of the bidder must be at least INR 2.042 crore in the last financial year.
