In a step towards improving the framework for resource adequacy in the state’s electricity sector, the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has unveiled draft regulations. This initiative highlights UPERC's commitment to enhancing energy security and ensuring a reliable supply of electricity across Uttar Pradesh.

UPERC is calling on all stakeholders, including consumers, industry experts, utility companies, and the general public, to examine the proposals and provide their feedback.

Highlighting public participation as a  crucial step in this process, UPERC has set a deadline of 11:00 AM on July 25, 2024, for the submission of comments. The note said, “Your involvement and feedback are vital in shaping the future of electricity regulation in Uttar Pradesh.”

Further, stakeholders are encouraged to send their feedback in both hard copy and electronic formats to ensure their voices are heard.

In addition to written comments, UPERC will hold a Public Hearing on July 25, 2024, at 3:30 PM at its office. This hearing will provide a platform for stakeholders to engage directly with the Commission, present their views, and discuss the draft regulations in detail.

UPERC Secretary stated, "We value the insights and perspectives of all our stakeholders. This collaborative approach is essential for developing regulations that are both effective and equitable. We urge everyone to participate actively in this process."

This move by UPERC is part of a broader effort to ensure that Uttar Pradesh’s electricity supply system is robust and capable of meeting future demands, thereby supporting the state’s economic growth and development.

The draft regulations, along with an explanatory memorandum, are now available for public review on the UPERC website (www.uperc.org).
