Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Reviews Power Sector, Urban Development Projects with Tripura Government

 Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, chaired a high-level review meeting with the Government of Tripura to assess the progress of power sector initiatives and urban development schemes being implemented in the state.

The meeting focussed on strengthening electricity infrastructure, enhancing power reliability, and accelerating the implementation of key urban projects under various central government programmes.

During the review, the Minister examined the status of electricity generation, transmission and distribution projects in Tripura, along with ongoing efforts to improve power supply quality and expand infrastructure to meet growing demand. Discussions also covered the state's renewable energy potential, grid modernisation initiatives and measures aimed at ensuring uninterrupted electricity access for consumers.

The Minister reviewed the performance of central schemes in the power sector and emphasised the need for timely completion of ongoing projects. He highlighted the importance of improving operational efficiency, reducing losses and strengthening the power distribution network to support economic growth and industrial development in the state.

On urban development, Manohar Lal assessed the implementation of flagship programmes under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The review included progress under urban infrastructure projects, housing initiatives, water supply systems, sanitation facilities and other civic development works aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.

The Tripura Government presented updates on project execution, fund utilisation and challenges faced in implementation. Discussions focused on identifying solutions to expedite project delivery and maximise the benefits of central assistance. The Union Minister assured continued support from the Centre to ensure effective execution of development initiatives across the state.

The meeting concluded with directions to accelerate project implementation, strengthen coordination between the Centre and the state government, and ensure that development schemes are completed within stipulated timelines to deliver improved services and infrastructure to the people of Tripura.
