The UAE and the Republic of Uzbekistan convened the fifth session of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) in Tashkent, led by Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.

The meeting yielded agreements to foster economic collaboration across various sectors, including new economy industries, tourism, SMEs, fintech, transportation, renewable energy, and infrastructure.

Highlighting the robust strategic relations between the two nations, Bin Touq emphasized the continuous growth of economic cooperation, supported by both leaderships. He underlined the significance of the fifth JEC session in enhancing economic ties and creating new opportunities for the private sector, particularly as the UAE serves as a vital economic gateway for Uzbek exports into regional markets.

Furthermore, Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions Company (SWS) and Uzsuvtaminot JSC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expedite the development of Tashkent's largest wastewater treatment plant. With a daily generation capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters, the plant will benefit over 3 million residents and communities in Tashkent and neighboring areas. The agreement was signed by Abdulwahab Sharif of SWS and Dilshod Azimov of Uzsuvtaminot JSC in the presence of both ministers.

The project, to be executed by SWS, aims to enhance infrastructure development and improve residents' well-being, ultimately raising the quality of life in Tashkent. Scheduled to commence in 2025 and become fully operational by 2029, the new plant will replace existing wastewater treatment facilities in Salar and Bektemir.

The UAE delegation, comprising 24 entities from public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Investment, Etihad Credit Insurance, DP World, and Masdar, demonstrated the depth of bilateral cooperation and commitment to advancing economic ties between the two countries.
