TÜV SÜD’s ‘Safe Future Now’ summit to focus on Thermal Power Plants this year
Summit to focus on optimising the performance of power plants to drive sustainability

Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the statutory body, responsible for the technical, coordination, supervision of the programme, has empanelled TÜV SÜD South Asia as a Renovation and Modernisation (R&M) consultant for thermal power plants. Under this programme, a large existing capacity, i.e. 129 units of total capacity of 26283 MW and 95 units of total capacity of 21212 MW have been identified for Renovation and Modernisation (R&M) / Life Extension (LE) works during the 11th plan and 12th plan periods.
To ensure best-in-class service, TÜV SÜD, the German consultancy, testing and certification giant, today announced the India edition for this year’s Safe Future Now series of international summits. Scheduled to take place on the 15th of October, at Le Meridien, New Delhi, the summit will focus on ‘Optimising performance of Thermal Power Plants for a sustainable and secure future’.
The day long summit will witness key leaders of the thermal power sector to discuss, learn and exchange experiences and insights to improve efficiency and increase availability of power. Two panel discussions at the summit will focus on:
- Global experiences, local challenges and regulatory environment - road map of India's thermal power plant industry.
- Learnings from the past and preparedness of the Indian thermal power plant industry to address the future challenges and opportunities.
The discussions will be moderated by noted economic policy expert and senior editor, Siddharth Zarabi. Presentations on the ‘efficiency of thermal power plants’ and ‘renovation and modernisation of thermal power plants’ will also be made by global experts at the summit. The event can be attended by key decision makers from regulatory bodies, public, private or jointly run power plant owners and operators, R&M service providers & technology provider, captive power plant owners, EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers & suppliers to name a few.
