E-mobility component manufacturing company Tsuyo Manufacturing has announced a technical collaboration with China's Suzhou Lvkon Transmission Technology (LvKON) to develop electric drive systems for India's commercial vehicle sector.
The collaboration builds on a five-year relationship between the two companies and aims to combine LvKON's product engineering expertise with Tsuyo's domestic manufacturing capabilities and relationships with Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the company said in a statement.
It further added that the partnership will focus on the development and industrialisation of electric motors, transmissions, integrated drive systems and electronic control technologies for commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses. It will also cover product engineering, design validation, manufacturing processes, testing systems and after-sales service infrastructure.
As part of its expansion plans, Tsuyo is advancing the development of a greenfield manufacturing facility spanning approximately 24 acres. The proposed facility is envisioned as an integrated platform for electric powertrain engineering, manufacturing, testing and product validation to support the company's engagement with commercial vehicle OEMs in India, the company stated.
Commenting on the collaboration, Vijay Kumar, Founder and CEO of Tsuyo Manufacturing, said, “LvKON brings established expertise in electric drive systems for new energy commercial vehicles, with capabilities spanning drive motors, transmissions, control systems, and integrated product development. Its experience across commercial vehicle applications provides a valuable technological foundation for addressing the performance, durability, efficiency, and reliability requirements of demanding operating environments. With LvKON's technology and industrialisation support, the aim is to establish world-class capabilities in electric drive systems and create a scalable foundation for developing and supplying next-generation solutions for India's commercial mobility sector.”
Eric, Director of International Sales at LvKON, said, “For the Indian electric commercial vehicle market, LVKON believes that its development potential is enormous. Based on the rapid development of the current Indian market, LvKON also hopes to play an important role in this rapid development process. We have a very professional technical team that can respond quickly to the differentiated needs of the Indian market and efficiently complete customised design and production work.”
The companies expect the collaboration to support the development and commercialisation of electric powertrain technologies tailored to Indian operating conditions. By combining product engineering, manufacturing, testing and lifecycle support, the partnership aims to address requirements related to performance, durability, energy efficiency and system integration across commercial vehicle applications.
