Trinity Cleantech Develops Bioethanol-Powered Gen Set with Integrated EV Charging
Trinity Cleantech is developing a mobile bioethanol-powered Gen Set with integrated EV charging, targeting off-grid and remote applications across construction, mining, defence and disaster response.

Trinity Cleantech is developing a bioethanol-powered Gen Set with integrated EV charging, bringing two traditionally separate requirements power generation and EV charging into a single mobile platform. Currently under development, the technology is being designed for locations where grid access is limited, unreliable or unavailable.
At the heart of the proposed Gen Set is a bioethanol-fuelled power-generation system that converts liquid bioethanol into electricity on demand. By using bioethanol derived from agricultural residues and surplus feedstock, the platform could create a new use case for India’s growing ethanol ecosystem while offering an alternative to conventional diesel-based power generation.
The platform has a distinctive dual-purpose architecture. The Gen Set is being designed to provide electrical power while also supporting EV charging from the same mobile asset. This approach could be particularly relevant in environments where installing separate power and charging infrastructure is difficult or commercially challenging.
The proposed applications span construction sites, mining operations, industrial facilities, defence and field installations, disaster-response operations, logistics and other temporary or remote locations. Its mobile configuration is intended to allow the power source to move with changing operational requirements rather than remain tied to a fixed grid connection.
Speaking about the development, Raj Kumar Medimi, Director, ThunderPlus, said, “The way power is generated and consumed is changing, particularly in locations where the grid cannot always keep pace with operational needs. With this Gen Set, we are working on a platform that can provide power and EV charging through one mobile system, using bioethanol as the energy source. Our focus is to make the technology practical for sectors where dependable power, mobility and flexibility are equally important.”
The Generator + EV Charger platform forms part of Trinity Cleantech’s technology roadmap and is envisaged as a mobile asset capable of supplying both general industrial or critical electrical power and EV charging. The company has identified disaster response, defence field power and construction sites among its potential applications.
To support wider adoption, Trinity Cleantech is also considering a lease-based model for the Gen Set. This could enable organisations to deploy the technology without taking on the full upfront capital cost, with the equipment, maintenance and monitoring potentially managed under an operating model.
The Gen Set is currently in the development stage, with Trinity Cleantech working towards commercialisation as part of its broader clean-energy technology portfolio. The company’s manufacturing and technology base at Jadcherla Green Industrial Park, Telangana, is central to its product development activities.
With this development, Trinity Cleantech is exploring a new category of mobile, bioethanol-powered energy infrastructure, one that can deliver power where the grid cannot easily reach while supporting the transition towards electric mobility.
