TPCIL synchronises 2nd Unit Of 1,320-Megawatt Power Plant To The Grid

Plant to commence full commercial operation by September 2015, taking the total operational capacity to 1,320 MW

Thermal Powertech Corporation India (TPCIL), which owns and operates a 1,320-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh’s SPSR Nellore district, has announced that it has successfully synchronised the second 660-megawatt unit of its plant to the grid. Its first 660-megawatt unit has begun commercial operation in February 2015.

With this synchronisation, the plant is expected to commence full commercial operation by end of September 2015, taking the total operational capacity to 1,320 megawatts. 

Atul Nargund, CEO of TPCIL, said, “The synchronization of our second unit is a significant milestone and brings us another step closer to the full completion of our power plant, which is expected to bein Q3 2015. With this, the plant will be fully operational with gross generation capacity of 1,320 megawatts.”
