Toyota is planning an EV fuelled by a solid-state battery that would have a range of around 1,200 km (750 miles) and a charge time of only 10 minutes.

Tesla Superchargers give about 200 miles of charge in 15 minutes.

The company is also proposing to initiate a high-performance lithium-ion battery to its subsequent generation EVs by 2026, under a new technology roadmap.

The batteries will supply fast charging and around 1,000 km (620 miles) of range, placing Toyota's vehicles ahead of the competition.

Toyota added, "On the vehicle axis, through technologies such as the integration of next-generation batteries and sonic technology, we will achieve a vehicle cruising range of 1,000 km".

The auto manufacturer intends to go fully electric by 2030, establishing an objective for half of its worldwide sales to comprise plug-in hybrids and EVs by 2025.

EV owners generally have charging stations in their homes and keep their cars plugged in overnight to recharge. A hybrid recharges as the car runs, but it also has a gasoline engine in addition to an electric motor.

The company aims to deliver 1.5 million EVs in 2026 by raising its battery EV lineup and developing technology.
