French energy major TotalEnergies has completed the installation of one of the largest ground-mounted behind-the-meter solar projects with a 7 MWp capacity in Western India.
The company said that it has installed the solar energy project at the textile giant’s manufacturing site in North India.
With around 14,000 modules installed, the solar project is expected to generate approx 12 GWh of electricity every year and reduce carbon emissions by over 7,800 tons annually, equivalent to taking over 1,500 cars off the road.
Besides reducing its carbon footprint, the textile company would also be able to cut its energy costs with clean energy produced for 25 years without any upfront investments.
Commenting on the development, Gavin Adda, Head of TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation Asia, said, “As the leading solar power provider in the region, we are dedicated to offer solar solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the overall energy cost. This project showcases our strong commitment to clean energy and is a step towards our long-term sustainability goals. TotalEnergies provides its customers peace of mind from a technical, financial and commercial perspective.”
