Torrent Power is stepping up its renewable energy expansion plans, targeting 10 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030 while advancing nearly 4 GW of projects under development as part of its long-term clean energy growth strategy.

According to the company's latest update, Torrent Power's renewable energy portfolio stood at approximately 5,952 MWp in FY2025-26. This includes around 2,002 MWp of operational capacity and 3,950 MWp under development. The company said it remains focused on expanding its solar, wind and hybrid energy portfolio while supporting India's transition towards a low-carbon economy and net-zero ambitions.

Torrent Power currently has around 2.3 GW of contracted renewable capacity under construction, equivalent to nearly 4.3 GWp of installed capacity, with an estimated investment of INR 27,830 crore. The project pipeline comprises utility-scale projects awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL), the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), the Railway Energy Management Company Ltd.(REMCL), along with captive, commercial and industrial (C&I), and merchant renewable energy projects.

The company said it continues to pursue renewable energy growth through disciplined participation in utility-scale tenders and the C&I segment while maintaining its internal rate of return (IRR) thresholds for new investments. It is also expanding its portfolio of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects by integrating solar, wind, hybrid generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to deliver reliable renewable power.

During FY2025-26, Torrent Power commissioned around 227 MWp under its MSEDCL solar project, taking its total installed generation capacity to 5.1 GW. The company also secured a 300 MW SECI-XVIII solar project at a tariff of ₹3.97 per unit and won its first 250 MW FDRE project for its licensed distribution business.

The FDRE project integrates approximately 500 MWp of solar and wind generation capacity with a 112.5 MW/450 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling round-the-clock renewable power supply.

Torrent Power further stated that it has secured transmission connectivity for the majority of its renewable project pipeline and is synchronising project execution with substation readiness to reduce transmission-related risks and prevent stranded investments. The company added that land acquisition has been largely completed, while right-of-way challenges for wind and hybrid projects continue to be actively managed.
