Terra Charge has partnered with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to establish electric vehicle charging hubs at major airports, starting with Raja Bhoj International Airport in Bhopal.

The Japanese technology-enabled park and charge facility at Bhopal Airport will occupy an area of 75 sq. m. and accommodate four EVs at a time. The hub will initially feature one slow charger and one 30 kW fast charger to cater to the different charging needs of E2W, E3W, and E4W.

Both public and commercial fleet owners will have 24/7 access to the charging hub services. This collaboration marks Terra Charge's first-ever tie-up with AAI and highlights the company’s commitment to expanding India’s public charging infrastructure in major locations.

The charging point operator has invested INR 15 lakh in the Raja Bhoj International Airport project, expanding its charging network in public places. The company aims to complete four more airport projects under this partnership by the end of this quarter.

Akihiro Ueda, CEO of Terra Charge, shared his thoughts on the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with the Airports Authority of India is a first of its kind, which makes it an important step for us. The collaboration begins with the establishment of EV charging infrastructure at Bhopal Airport, which records massive footfall throughout the day. I believe this joint initiative will cater to the rising demand for EV charging and add value to Bhopal.Through this project, we aim to advance our commitment to environmental sustainability and improve the charging experience for more individuals in and around Bhopal.”

Though Terra Charge has not mentioned any date, the upcoming charging station is anticipated to go live in 45-60 days.

Android and iOS users can locate the charging station on the airport’s parking premises through the Terra Charge Mobile App. The company is currently working on similar projects in key locations in India.
