TERI Proposes to Discover Ways to Provide Cheap Energy in Andhra Pradesh

The Energy Resource Institute (TERI) has announced that it has offered to conduct a study to find ways to deliver affordable power supply to key sectors like agriculture and industries in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at international conference, International Symposium to Promote Innovation and Research in Energy Efficiency (INSPIRE 2019), Mumbai, TERI director general Ajay Mathur said they would examine ways to provide low-cost solar power to discoms at a rate of around Rs 3 per unit to supply agriculture pump sets if the state government was keen and it is subject to APERC approval.

On other hand, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) will scrutinize the proposal to take up replacement of old rural water pump sets with energy efficient pump sets without any financial burden on AP government. The EESL MD said it would look into the proposal of taking up this project if government agree to the business model.
