Tata Technologies has launched WATTSync, a digital battery passport solution aimed at making batteries more traceable, transparent, and sustainable throughout their lifecycle, from mining to recycling.
The company said WATTSync enables OEMs, battery makers, and recyclers to capture and validate data across every stage of a battery’s journey. It provides a live, shared view of materials, performance, carbon footprint, and recovery status, while also automating compliance reporting in line with evolving global regulations. Secure, role-based access allows suppliers, auditors, and regulators to work on a single digital record, safeguarded through blockchain technology.
Built to integrate with PLM, MES, ERP, and cloud systems, WATTSync creates a complete digital thread for each battery. Artificial intelligence monitors health and anomalies, flags issues before they affect customers, and simplifies audits with guided checks and multilingual support. Being cloud-agnostic, the platform can be deployed rapidly and at scale across regions.
The launch comes at a crucial time, with the European Union set to mandate digital battery passports for EV and industrial batteries from February 2027. India has also announced plans to roll out a similar framework to strengthen safety, traceability, and exports. Tata Technologies said WATTSync would help global customers prepare early, improve compliance readiness, and build market confidence.
By enabling better second-life applications, recycling insights, and AI-driven feedback loops from the field to engineering, WATTSync is designed to support smarter product design and circular outcomes. The company added that the solution reduces risk through verified sourcing and tamper-evident data, while also improving audit readiness and sustainability reporting.
