Tata Power synchronizes 67.5 MW Unit 1 of its 202.5 MW IEL Kalinganagar-Orissa project
Units are designed to cater to the requirement of LP steam

Tata Power through its joint venture company Industrial Energy Limited (IEL) has announced that the Company has synchronized the 67.5 MW Unit 1 of its 3 x 67.5 MW IEL Kalinganagar project. These units are designed to cater to the requirement of LP steam, which is supplied to Tata Steel, which got commissioned from December, 2015.
The IEL Kalinganagar project is the 3rd unit of IEL after two operating units of 120 MW (Unit 5 &PH #6, Jamshedpur) based on the mixture of BFG, COG, and LDG,which is environment friendly and efficient.
Speaking on this milestone, Mr. Anil Sardana, CEO &Managing Director, Tata Power, said, “The synchronising of Unit 1 of the IEL Kalinganagar project marks a significant milestone in its quest for environmentally benign generation and we are delighted with this achievement. As per our commitment to sustainability, the technology used for the project is environment friendly and helpscut down the greenhouse gas emissions as compared to regular coal-fired power stations.”
