Tata Power Renewables to Accelerate Rooftop Solar Adoption among C&I Customers in Chhattisgarh

Tata Power Renewables targets addition of 500 MWp rooftop solar capacity in the next three years, driving industrial decarbonisation and sustainable growth.

Tata Power Renewables has launched ‘Scale Sustainably with Tata Power’ in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The campaign aims to drive faster rooftop solar adoption among Commercial and Industrial (C&I) consumers, particularly across the energy-intensive sectors viz steel, cement, power, aluminium and mining.

Through this campaign, Tata Power Solaroof, a division of Tata Power Renewable Energy, will deliver clean, cost-efficient and reliable solar energy solutions to the state’s industries.

Chhattisgarh, emerging as one of India’s key industrial hubs, is witnessing growing demand for Renewable Energy (RE) through rooftop, group-captive and open-access models. This initiative is designed to support owner-operated businesses and Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) customers with load requirements above 1 MW (1000 kW), enabling them to transition smoothly to sustainable power.

Under the campaign, customers will enjoy attractive financing options, including interest rates starting at just 7.35 percent, zero processing fees and collateral-free loans.

With Chhattisgarh positioned as a vital industrial growth centre, ‘Scale Sustainably with Tata Power’ aims to accelerate the state’s clean energy transition through strategic partnerships, knowledge-sharing sessions and customer engagement programmes with a strong network of channel partners across key cities in the state.

Supportive policy reforms in Chhattisgarh are helping accelerate the adoption of renewable energy by reducing regulatory barriers, simplifying tariff structures and aligning with the Green Energy Open Access (GEOA) framework. These policy enhancements are encouraging large-scale clean energy adoption by industrial and commercial consumers.

Over the next three years, the company targets adding 10 GWp of rooftop solar capacity nationwide.

In Chhattisgarh, as of August 2025, it has achieved a cumulative rooftop solar capacity of 252 MWp - 234 MWp in the C&I segment and 18 MWp in the residential segment serving around 3,275 customers. In FY 2025–26 alone, the company added 20 MWp across 81 C&I installations and 10 MWp across 2,607 residential systems. Over the next three years, it aims to add 500 MWp of rooftop solar capacity in the state.

In the past, Tata Power Renewable Energy has already delivered several landmark projects in Chhattisgarh, including a 100 MW solar PV project with a 120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajnandgaon; a 30 MWp ground-mounted solar project at Badbhoom and Mundgaon for ABIS; and the deployment of 100 solar microgrid systems across remote forest villages, improving rural energy access.
