Utility major Tata Power’s renewable arm Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), a joint venture of Tata Power and Delhi Government, for setting up a 255 MW hybrid (wind and solar) power project in Karnataka.
The letter was awarded to TPREL through an e-reverse auction, and the project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of the execution of the PPA.
Commenting on the project win, Ashish Khanna, CEO, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, said, “we are pleased to facilitate Tata Power-DDL’s clean energy requirements with the 255 MW hybrid power project. We envision that this association will also encourage other Discoms in the country to enhance the share of sustainable energy in their overall energy mix and contribute towards the country's net zero emission target.”
Thus, the power generated from the project would be supplied to Tata Power-DDL, which supplies electricity to a populace of over 7 million in North Delhi.
Also, the hybrid project includes 85 MW capacity of solar and 170 MW capacity of wind power with the green-shoe option of an additional 85 MW capacity of solar and 170 MW capacity of wind.
With this win, the total renewable energy capacity of TPREL reached 6,048 MW including 2,164 MW projects under various stages of implementation and its operational capacity is 3,884 MW (including 2,956 MW solar and 928 MW wind).
Presently, the company's solar EPC portfolio is over 10 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 1.3GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems and over 87,000 solar water pumps.
