Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has announced that the company has commissioned its 300 MW solar project for Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in Koppal, Karnataka. TP Saurya, a wholly owned subsidiary of TPREL, is the developing company for the project.
Upon commissioning, the project is expected to generate 810 MUs of renewable energy annually and help mitigate an estimated 103,820 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, TPREL said in a statement.
The project will supply renewable power to the SECI. A key technology feature of the project is the deployment of Solar Trackers, enabling the solar modules to track the movement of the sun and optimise energy generation. The project deploys TP580HG10NB bifacial modules. The combination of advanced tracking technology and high-efficiency bifacial modules supports efficient utilisation of the project site and enhances renewable power generation, the company stated.
The Koppal project also reflects TPREL's focus on building a diverse and inclusive workforce across its renewable energy operations. Around 16 women professionals, accounting for nearly 40 percent of the workforce at the project site, have contributed in key roles including Site Managers and Site Engineers, supporting technical execution, engineering and team management. Their participation highlights the growing role of women in technical and leadership positions within India's renewable energy sector, TPREL said.
With the addition of this project, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has reached 12 GW. Out of this, around 7.2 GW is operational, including 5.8 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while close to 4.9 GW is under various stages of implementation, the company stated.
