Tata Power reaches Network Capacity of 3700 Kms to serve more Mumbaites

Plans to increase MVA Capacity of transmission from 1600 MVA to 2900 MVA by FY 2020-21

Tata Power announced that it has  successfully reached 1550 Kms Low Tension and 2150 Kms of High Tension network in Mumbai till date.

Tata Power has crossed a landmark investment figure of more than Rs. 1300 crores in Mumbai’s power distribution infrastructure in the last five years. Facing challenges head on, Tata Power has successfully created capacity to serve more and more consumers on its own network in the city of Mumbai despite the various challenges it faced. The Company now has 28 DSS (Distribution Sub Stations) and plans to setup additional DSS as and when required.  

Speaking on the accomplishments, Mr. Ashok Sethi, Executive Director - Operations, Tata Power, saidTata Power is committed to empowering consumers and has been undertaking steady network expansion within the city. The Company will continue to develop a robust, efficient and economic network backbone where reliability is a concern to be able to cater to the growing market demand in addition to the development of last mile connectivity to reach consumer premises. We have deployed innovative technology and will continue to do so in order to overcome various constraints to serve the growing consumers demand.”

Tata Power caters to about 38 per cent of Mumbai's requirements. The Company is also planning to increase MVA Capacity of transmission from 1600 MVA to 2900 MVA by FY 2020-21.

The Company is currently the only utility in Mumbai to have already piloted electricity distribution with space saving and safe technological measures such as Pole Mounted Transformers, Natural Ester filled Transformers, Underground Feeder Pillars, E-House DSS & using indigenously designed Outdoor meter panel box for societies where alternative meter rooms are not available.

Tata Power distribution has been the frontrunner in implementing international best practices and is acknowledged for its consumer connects. The Company offers one of the lowest tariffs in low end consumer categories if compared across the metros. It has also continually worked towards lowering its generation costs to ensure that benefit of lower tariffs is extended to the consumers.
