Tata Power Floats Tender for 50 MW/100 MWh BESS for Mumbai Distribution
Tata Power has invited bids for 50 MW/100 MWh BESS capacity for 15 years to meet the power requirements of Tata Power Mumbai Distribution. Bid submission ends on September 15, 2026.

Tata Power Company has floated a tender for the procurement of 50 MW/100 MWh 1 Cycle) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) power for 15 years for Tata Power Mumbai Distribution (Tata Power-D).
The scope of work will broadly include setting up BESS with complete operation and maintenance, having a total aggregate storage capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh, and supply of electricity from the supply capacity, in accordance with the terms of the battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA). The bidder must maintain a supply of minimum 95 percent availability on a monthly basis.
Bidders need to pay INR 29,500 as a tender document fee and INR 5 lakh (plus GST) as a processing fee. They also need to furnish INR 1 lakh/MW as an earnest money deposit (EMD). Selected bidders must submit a performance bank guarantee (PBG) of INR 5 lakh/MW, prior to signing the BESPA.
The last date for submission of bids is September 15, 2026 till 2:00 PM. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 3:00 PM.
Bidders must bid for the entire capacity of 50 MW.
Tata Power-D shall enter into a BESPA with the successful bidder. Under BESPA, the selected bidder shall be responsible for coordinating with Tata Power-D for charging BESS from the already commissioned 150 MW Solar Project, so as to meet Tata Power-D’s dispatch requirements on a day-ahead/intra-day basis and shall be independently responsible for supply of BESS Capacity under BESPA as per its terms and conditions.
The selected bidder shall be solely responsible for arranging the land required to set up the BESS project, securing non-solar hour connectivity for the proposed BESS, and developing, operating, and maintaining the BESS transmission system up to the delivery point, entirely at its own cost and expense.
The bidder must have experience in construction, commissioning, owning, operating and maintaining BESS having an installed capacity of at least 25 MW.
The bidder must have a minimum net worth of INR 50 lakh/MW, turnover of INR 1 crore/MW, and EBITDA of INR 50 lakh/MW, based on the immediately preceding financial year.
