Tata Power bags ‘GOLD’ at the Chapter Convention on Quality Circle (CCQC) 2018 Award

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility took center stage at the recently held Chapter Convention on Quality Circle (CCQC) 2018 Award by bagging three GOLD awards for excellent problem-solving capabilities and contribution of teams towards quality initiatives at Jojobera thermal power station.

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility took center stage at the recently held Chapter Convention on Quality Circle (CCQC) 2018 Award by bagging three GOLD awards for excellent problem-solving capabilities and contribution of teams towards quality initiatives at Jojobera thermal power station. Three Quality Circle teams 1) Team Challenger 2) Team Pragati 3) Team Avenger (O&M) were bestowed with the most prestigious GOLD award under the ‘Lean QC’ category.

The 2018 CCQC Award was held at Durgapur, West Bengal and witnessed the participation of around 80 teams from different industries including Tata Steel, Tata Power, Durgapur steel plant, Durgapur Cement Works, JCAPCPL, DVC Mejhia, IISCO steel plant, Jindal Steel & Power, Sonar Bangla Cement, MCPI PVT LTD Haldia, Supreme Industries, Tata Global NONOI, Tata Tea DAMDIN, Central Coalfields Ltd. etc.

Quality Circle is a small group activity of grass root employees guided by a Management representative termed as Facilitator/Coordinator, solving their work related problems by using quality tools. Nowadays they are also solving problems given by Management under a new concept called Lean QC. 

Speaking on this achievement, Mr Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power said, “We strongly believe that a successful employee is the key to profitable growth. We are elated to receive this recognition from the CCQC since it exhibits our commitment towards creating and developing a culture of openness, curiosity and learning.”

Applauding the efforts of the quality teams, Mr. Vijay V Namjoshi, Chief-Jojobera Thermal Power Station, Tata Power, said, "We are delighted to receive these prestigious awards. Tata Power will continue its efforts towards quality improvement and establish new industry standards."
