Suzlon Group, a Pune-based firm, has announced a major overhaul of its leadership structure in line with its newly unveiled ‘Suzlon 2.0’ strategy, aimed at transforming the company from a wind energy solutions provider into a full-stack renewable energy conglomerate.

As part of the reorganisation, the company has constituted a Group Executive Council (GEC) to steer its long- and medium-term strategic direction. It has also appointed Ajay Kapur as Group Chief Executive Officer, while elevating JP Chalasani to the newly formed council.

The firm said that the new leadership architecture has been designed to support its diversification plans across wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), emerging technologies and new business models, enabling the company to offer integrated renewable energy solutions to customers in India and overseas.

Under the new structure, the GEC will act as a strategic body responsible for shaping portfolio strategy, setting enterprise-wide priorities and allocating capital across existing and new businesses. An Executive Management Council, led by the Group CEO, will oversee execution and drive operational transformation and sustainable growth.

In his expanded role, JP Chalasani will work closely with the Chairman and Managing Director and the Executive Vice Chairman to shape key strategic initiatives. He will continue as a Key Managerial Personnel and will focus on mentoring senior leadership, maintaining strategic partnerships and incubating new business opportunities.

Ajay Kapur, who brings over 36 years of experience across infrastructure, construction, power and heavy metals sectors, will be responsible for scaling Suzlon’s businesses and leading its transformation agenda. His last assignment was as Managing Director of Ambuja Cements Ltd.. At Suzlon, he will report to Chairman and Managing Director Vinod Tanti.

Commenting on the leadership changes, Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti said that the company was entering a critical phase of growth as global energy markets recalibrate to meet rising demand. He said Suzlon’s move beyond wind energy towards a full-stack renewable solutions model would unlock new value and strengthen its market position.

Chalasani said that the new structure would help sharpen the group’s strategic focus and position it to capitalise on the growing renewable energy opportunity in India and internationally. Kapur, in his statement, said that Suzlon’s vision for the future was inspiring and that he looked forward to building on its legacy to deliver sustainable growth and long-term value for stakeholders.

Suzlon currently has about 21.5 GW of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries. The group operates R&D centres in Europe and India and manufacturing facilities across the country. It has an installed base of 15.5 GW in India and around 6 GW overseas.
