Sunsure Energy has announced the signing of a 30 MWp long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Evonith Steel to supply renewable electricity to its integrated steel manufacturing operations in Wardha, Maharashtra.

The power supply is scheduled to commence from October using capacity from Sunsure's 120 MWp operating solar facility in Dhule, Maharashtra. The rapid commencement of supply will enable Evonith Steel to integrate renewable energy into its operations within weeks of signing the agreement and will help offset an estimated 34,700 tonnes of CO₂e emissions each year.

The agreement demonstrates Sunsure Energy’s ability to supply power at the Pace of India’s Growth. This is demonstrated by moving beyond the conventional project-development cycle and connecting industrial customers to renewable generation with significantly greater speed.

Speaking about the partnership, Jai Saraf, Chairman, Evonith Steel and Founder and CEO, Nithia Capital, said, “As Evonith Steel grows to serve India’s increasing demand for steel, we believe that growth and sustainability must go hand in hand. Our partnership with Sunsure Energy enables us to bring renewable power into our operations at speed and scale. Increasing our use of renewable energy is an important step in reducing the carbon intensity of our operations and building a more responsible and future-ready manufacturing business as we work towards our commitment of being "Here for a Better Today". As we continue our transformation journey, we will remain focused on finding scalable ways to make our operations more efficient, resilient and sustainable.”

Shashank Sharma, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Sunsure Energy, said, “The Evonith partnership validates what we've believed all along; the C&I market is moving decisively toward a solution-first architecture.”

He further added, “This partnership is proof of how we intend to grow alongside India's industrial backbone."
