Sungrow, a global provider of PV inverters and energy storage systems, has released its S+ Energy Storage Multi-Scenario White Paper at Intersolar Europe 2026, introducing a new framework designed to address the increasingly diverse requirements of modern energy storage applications.
The company said that the rapid expansion of energy storage across sectors such as renewable energy bases, AI data centers, PV-storage-charging stations, zero-carbon industrial parks, green hydrogen projects, and off-grid microgrids is creating distinct operational demands that cannot be effectively addressed through standardized solutions alone. According to the white paper, differences between applications now extend beyond capacity, power ratings, and storage duration to include varying grid requirements, operating environments, and value objectives.
Sungrow noted that renewable energy integration projects often require long-duration energy shifting capabilities, while grid-forming applications demand rapid response and enhanced stability support. Emerging sectors such as green hydrogen production also require close coordination among renewable generation, energy storage systems, and electrolyzers. The company said that these evolving needs signal the end of the one-size-fits-all approach to energy storage deployment.
To address these challenges, Sungrow introduced its S+ framework, which stands for Scenario, Synergy, and Sustain. The framework advocates a shift from applying standardized products to different projects toward designing solutions based on the specific requirements of each application scenario. Sungrow said that the approach relies on a flexible technological foundation that enables tailored configurations without requiring every project to be developed from scratch.
The company explained that the framework is built on three key principles. First, energy storage solutions should be defined by the operational requirements and lifecycle goals of each scenario. Second, systems should be designed with native integration and unified control architecture rather than relying on fragmented hardware assembly and post-installation adjustments. Third, energy storage assets should be optimized for sustained value creation through lifecycle operation and maintenance services, adaptive operating strategies, and long-term performance support.
At the center of the S+ framework is what Sungrow calls its S+ Dual-Engine Foundation, comprising a Product Engine and a Platform Engine. The Product Engine utilizes a broad portfolio of energy storage products built on shared design principles, enabling solutions to be configured efficiently across different applications. The Platform Engine integrates the entire value chain, covering scenario analysis, system configuration, simulation, research and development, manufacturing, testing, operation, and maintenance.
Dr. Cai Zhuang, General Manager of the Product Business Center at Sungrow Energy Storage Business Unit, said that the company has developed an integrated capability chain that connects customer requirements with solution design, validation, manufacturing, deployment, and lifecycle support. He added that this approach helps ensure system consistency, reliability, and long-term returns.
Sungrow stated that the S+ framework is supported by nearly 30 years of industry experience, more than 1,000 GW of global engineering expertise, and in-house research and development capabilities spanning wind power, solar PV, energy storage, EV charging, hydrogen technologies, and AI data center applications.
The company said that the framework is intended to help customers transform energy storage projects into long-term value-generating assets capable of adapting to changing market conditions and evolving grid requirements. The S+ Energy Storage Multi-Scenario White Paper is now available through Sungrow's official website.
