Sungrow to Provide its 1500 VDC Central Inverters for Chile’s Largest Project
The company is expected to begin construction on the 400 MW project this year and will use Sungrow inverters

Sungrow has announced that it has signed an agreement with Enel Green Power Chile to supply its 1500 Vdc central inverters to a PV plant at Copiapó, the largest to be built in the country to date.
Enel Green Power plans to build Chile’s largest PV plant, at Copiapó in the Atacama Desert. The company is expected to begin construction on the 400 MW project this year and will use Sungrow inverters. Enel has not yet released any more project data.
“Sungrow’s 6.25 MW turnkey solution for 1500 Vdc systems – featuring unmatched efficiency of up to 99% and [a] maximum DC/AC ratio of up to 1.5 – is an ideal solution for the utility scale PV farm in this region,” said the company in a statement. “Notably, the solution is in compliance with the Chilean codes for earthquakes and is extremely resilient to the severe conditions [in the Atacama Desert].”
Since the opening of its Chile branch in 2017, Sungrow has expanded in the country. The company said it closed 2018 with more than 50 MW of distributed generation system capacity in Chile.
