At the 10th Century Photovoltaic Conference held in Shanghai on June 10, the Photovoltaic Brand Lab (PVBL) released its much-anticipated 2025 Global Top 100 Solar Brands and the Global Solar Brand Influence Report, spotlighting the top 20 solar inverter manufacturers worldwide.
Despite a turbulent year for the broader photovoltaic manufacturing sector, which saw many companies slip into losses, the inverter segment stood tall, defying the downturn and emerging as the industry’s brightest performer in 2024.
As per the report, Sungrow posted record-breaking revenue of 77.86 billion yuan and a net profit of 11.04 billion yuan, up 7.76 percent and 16.92 percent year-on-year, respectively. Huawei's inverter division also maintained strong momentum, with both players continuing to dominate the global inverter market.
Other notable companies in the top 20 include TBEA, Senergy, Deye, and Ginlong (Solis), while SOFAR garnered investor confidence by successfully going public in April, a rare feat amid a slowdown in clean energy IPOs.
However, shifts in global demand dynamics were evident. A noticeable dip in household energy storage demand across Europe placed pressure on several international manufacturers, causing reshuffles in their rankings. PVBL noted that disparities in market strategies and R&D investments are becoming more prominent, pointing toward deeper performance divergence in the future.
Still, long-term projections remain upbeat. With global solar installations on the rise, expanding overseas markets, and a relatively balanced supply-demand equation, inverter companies are well-positioned for sustainable growth. Ongoing improvements in cost control, production efficiency, and innovation are expected to sustain the sector’s resilience.
The PVBL rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation system combining market performance, financial metrics, innovation, social responsibility, and sustainability. Data sources include 2024 annual reports and public filings from listed firms, alongside self-reported figures from private companies. Firms that failed to provide necessary data were excluded.
Founded in 2012, the PVBL Annual Report has grown into a trusted barometer of global solar brand strength, gaining increasing recognition from international stakeholders. The ranking methodology is grounded in Chinese national standards such as GB/T 31041-2014, GB/T 31042-2014, and GB/T 31043-2014, and assesses companies across five primary and ten secondary indicators.
Primary indicators include revenue, R&D, shipments, impact, and service, while secondary metrics span brand design, popularity, loyalty, product quality, marketing, social responsibility, and more.
Each year, the Century Photovoltaic Conference concludes with the release of various top 10 rankings, including categories such as PV Power Station Investors, EPC Contractors, Solar Modules, Solar Cells, and Inverters.
With its ever-evolving evaluation system, PVBL continues to strengthen its global influence, serving not just as an awards list, but as a reliable mirror of the industry’s direction and branding effectiveness.
